About Us

As an applied mathematics student, I fundamentally disagree with German philosopher Immanuel Kant, who said “Experience without theory is blind, but theory without experience is mere intellectual play.” In fact, I would argue, “Theory without experience is blind.” I’ll shut up now.
My point is, you really learn best by actually doing things—not just by reading about them. For example, I’ve always been terrified of heights. So, I figured, what better way to conquer that fear than by going skydiving? (Depicted on the left). On 5 hours of sleep, I jumped out of a tiny, cramped plane, thirteen thousand feet up in the air, strapped to some random guy. It was a huge mistake—honestly, I was terrified. But I’d do it again in a heartbeat, because diving in headfirst—whether I fail or succeed—is exactly how I grow.
My approach to learning is hands-on, authentic, and intentional. School was never effortless for me—there was no single moment when everything suddenly made sense. Instead, my growth came from steady effort, patience, and resilience, as I built my knowledge piece by piece through real-world experiences. I've learned by doing: from working as a lifeguard and sandwich maker, to interning as a paralegal, to joining a hydroponics startup, contributing to a renewable energy company, gaining experience at a state-funded life sciences venture capital firm, Baidu, Tesla, and now working at Amazon.
I built this service because I know firsthand how confusing—and honestly, how overwhelming—it can be to figure out what you want to do, how to get real-world experience, or even just how to get your foot in the door. When I was in high school, I would have given anything for access to practical guidance and opportunities that went beyond just “good grades” and generic advice.
I created 14Gate Advising to give genuine, hands-on chances to explore different paths, build skills that actually matter, and work with similarly passionate people who share a common interest or final. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter coaching or one-size-fits-all answers. Anybody can become the best version of themselves simply by having the confidence to walk through the door and try. The 14Gate logo is just an open gate, and to me, it’s a reminder that all you really need is a little confidence to take that first step. But honestly, it’s what happens after you step through that counts—and that’s where I come in. I’m here to make things way less overwhelming, offering the kind of mentorship, industry connections, and real, step-by-step support I wish someone had given me. I want people to find what they’re passionate about and have the opportunities to pursue it no matter where they’re starting from.
Internship Coaching
Everything I offer here—personalized 1:1 coaching, resume and LinkedIn makeovers, mock interviews, and direct connections to 300+ VC-backed startups—is exactly what helped me get to places like Amazon (and a bunch of other cool companies). I actually interned at two startups myself, so I know how powerful that experience is. Working at a startup is a chance to learn a ton, try out different things, and actually see the impact of your work. You get to be part of a small team where your ideas matter, and there’s real room to grow along with the company. The wild thing is nobody else is offering this kind of all-in-one, real-world internship pipeline—especially for high schoolers. It might sound too good to be true, but that’s why I back it with a money-back guarantee—and yeah, I’ve spent more late nights messaging startups than I can count just to make sure this is the real deal. With a VC-backed startup, students can get in early on the next big thing (think early Apple or Uber) and pick up real skills that’ll give them a serious edge. Whether it’s fall, spring, or summer, I can help students find internships, build confidence, and set themselves up for something way bigger, because I truly know high school students are way more capable than most people give them credit for.
College Advising
College admissions can feel overwhelming, especially since success isn’t about what you’ve done— it’s about how well you tell your story. Seriously, it’s basically sales. You could be the next Einstein, but if you don’t know how to communicate that to colleges, it won’t matter. The truth is, most students hate writing about themselves and have never even tackled PIQ-style questions before. I get it—I’ve spent over one thousand five hundred hours diving deep into the ins and outs of college admissions just to help students genuinely stand out. For what it’s worth, I wrote my own college essay about the life lessons from Kung Fu Panda, and that ended up making me the first student in my school’s history to get into UC Berkeley.
I know how to make a student stand out—and not just on paper, but in a way that gets them into programs they’ll actually love and thrive in. I’ve studied this whole process to a T. I even went as far as requesting my own admissions file and speaking directly to the person who accepted me into Berkeley, just to fully understand what worked. I know how this system moves, and more importantly, how to maneuver it. That’s why our College Advising package includes everything in the Internship Coaching program, plus fully personalized school lists, essay strategy, timeline planning, and in-depth help with scholarships, financial aid, positioning extracurriculars, and even landing university-level research. With over 80 admits to Top 20 schools, acceptance to every single Ivy League school, and more than $10 million in scholarships earned by our students, the results speak for themselves.
